A transmitter is provided with: a null symbol map unit 204 which determines a null symbol arrangement pattern by combining at least two unit patterns different from each other that define data symbol and null symbol positions; a subcarrier map unit 205 which, in a two-dimensional space defined by a plurality of subcarriers used for multicarrier transmission and a time series using a time determined according to one symbol as a unit, assigns transmission data to the positions of data symbols of each of subcarriers determined according to the null symbol arrangement pattern; a modulation unit 206 which generates data symbols by modulating the transmission data assigned to each of the subcarriers, assigns null symbols having no electric power to the positions of null symbols of each of the subcarriers determined according to the null symbol arrangement pattern, and thereby generates transmission symbols of each of the subcarriers; and a baseband unit 207 which outputs a baseband signal on the basis of the generated transmission symbols. |
