PURPOSE:To provide an easily takable, low toxic agent useful as an antiulcer agent, by using eugenol zinc salt or isoeugenol zinc salt as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains eugenol zinc salt or isoeugenol zinc salt as an active component. Although both eugenol and isoeugenol have excellent antiulcer activity, however, these compounds are liquid having characteristic smell, and cause emesis, nausea, sickness, etc. to the patient. Another problem of the compounds, i.e. the characteristic after-taste and smell remaining in the mouth for a long period, can be solved by using eugenol zinc salt or isoeugenol zinc salt. The active component can be prepared by mixing eugenol or isoeugenol with a zinc halide in an alcohol in the presence of an alkali, and leaving the mixture at rest for several - several tens hours at room temperature.
