A vehicle-mounted camera with which it is possible to prevent unwanted reflections, caused by light from the sun or a street light being reflected by the windshield, entering an image and thereby decreasing the accuracy or contrast of the image. The vehicle-mounted camera is mounted in a vehicle to capture an image of a travel environment of the vehicle by receiving external light from outside the vehicle, and is provided with: a camera unit including a lens portion that produces a picture by receiving the external light, and an image capture element that generates a picture signal based on the picture produced by the lens unit; and a polarization plate disposed in front of the camera unit, wherein the image capture element constituting the camera unit is a CMOS image sensor, and wherein the polarization plate is a polarization plate with an orthogonal transmissivity of 5 to 20% with respect to the S-polarized wave of wavelengths of from 420 nm to 700 nm, or has a parallel transmissivity of 45 to 60% with respect to natural light of wavelengths of from 420 nm to 700 nm. |
