PURPOSE:To put out a lamp at its life end etc. by providing a shape memorizing alloy which is non-restorable after being deformed by heating as an effect of an extraordinary temperature rise of an electrode within a bulb, and by opening a circuit consisting of an internal lead wire and an electrode by deformation of the memorizing alloy. CONSTITUTION:Inside surface of a glass bulb 1 is coated by phosphor film 2, and electrodes 3, 3 are disposed at both ends of the bulb 1. The electrode is made of a coil, both ends of it are connected to internal lead wires 4, 4, and the lead wires 4, 4 are sealed to a stem 5. Mercury of a predetermined quantity and inert gas of a predetermined pressure are sealed in the bulb 1. One of the lead wire 4 is divided into two parts 4a, 4b beforehand, and divided wires 4a, 4b are connected to each other in mutually separable condition. One end of the shape memorizing alloy 8 is sealed to the stem 5, and the other end of the alloy 8 is fixed to the divided wire 4a after bent so as to approach to the electrode 3. The alloy 8 deforms by an extraordinary temperature rise beyond a predetermined temperature of the electrode 3, separates the divided wire 4a from the divided wire 4b, puts out the lamp, and the balast 12 and the starter tube 13 can be protected. |
