The latching spring which can be fitted to any desired component (1) is used for the positively-locking retention of the component on a support (2). The latter is provided with a step (4) behind which a latching tab (6), which is fitted to the end of the latching spring, falls. The latching spring consists of two latching spring strips which are guided parallel and are connected to one another in the region of the latching tab (6) and of a cut-free tongue (9) which is connected there to the latching spring strips and to the latching tab. The tongue is constructed to have a stable shape over its entire length and, at its free end, has a lever (11) via which the latching tab (6) which has fallen into the step (4) can be pivoted out of the step region by hand. In this case, the latching spring is elastically deformed over the entire length of the latching spring strips, the spring force being distributed approximately uniformly over the spring path. Possible bending of the spring as a result of swivelling about a rotation axis is thus prevented. The invention is particularly suitable for fixing small components to a support, for example for fixing distributors, switches, relays and the like to a supporting frame. <IMAGE>
