A magnetic head having a slider which shows excellent slidability with a magnetic disk surface. The slider is made of zirconia ceramic which is substantially cubic at room temperature and comprises dispersed fine ceramic particles, alumina and/or carbide of Group IVa, Va or VIa of the Periodic Table, in the zirconia matrix.
