A process for the preparation of aqueous dispersions of A) 5-45 parts by weight of cellulose nitrate, B) 0-25 parts by weight of polyester and/or alkyd resins, C) 0.5-15 parts by weight of plasticiser, D) 0.5-15 parts by weight of emulsifier and E) 30-300 parts by weight of water, in which, in order to improve the gloss of films obtained from the emulsion, small amounts of complexing agents are incorporated.
