The invention relates to tapwork members. The gate valve which is the subject of the invention is characterised in that a bush 23 is rotatably mounted in the wall of the body 1 of the valve, the internal surface 24 of the said bush being coaxial with the rod 19 of the guard 17 and surrounding said rod, and in that the longitudinal axis 28 of the external surface 25 of the bush 23 is arranged eccentrically with respect to the longitudinal axis 20 of the rod 19.
