<p>A process for reversibly transferring heat between a plurality of zones maintained at different temperature levels, comprising maintaining a solution of a volatile material in a solution tank (13), feeding the solution into an evaporator (11) to evaporate the volatile material, and feeding the vapor thus formed into a separate receiver (14) which is in heat exchange relationship with a low temperature thermal sink (15). When it is desired to withdraw heat from the system, the volatile material solution, containing a decreased concentration of the volatile material, is fed into a condenser (12) wherein vapor is absorbed and additional vapor is introduced by vaporization of volatile material in the receiver (14), thereby transferring heat from the low temperature thermal sink (15) to the useful temperature level of the condenser (12).</p> |
