The wheelchair has a chassis formed as a rigid unit with two longitudinal frame tubes (4) crossed by a wheel axis (3). The axle and each frame tube are connected by U-shaped stirrups (7), the bottom parts of which enclose the tubes, and their arms have apertures through which the axis extends. A two-part wedge (8) is fitted between the axle and frame tubes and between the stirrup arms. It is fitted against the axis and frame tubes by screws so that they are pressed apart and fixed in position. The axis may be divided in the central area and have an adjustment mechanism to permit pivoting of each of the axle parts around the central axis for the respective frame tube. |
