PURPOSE:To provide the titled additive containing a condensate of a ketone, an aldehyde and an acid group-contg. compd. as effective ingredient and producing an aqueous slurry of solid fuel in high concn. and excellent in static stability. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline aqueous soln. of (A) a ketone (selected from among acetone and methyl ethyl ketone), (B) an aldehyde (selected from among formaldehyde and acetaldehyde) and (C) an acid group-contg. compd. (selected from among sulfite, pyrosulfite and amide sulfonate) in a specified blend ratio [(B) should pref. be added to a mixt. of (A) and (C)] is made to react at about 30- 95 deg.C for 2-5hr to produce a condensate having a weight-average molecular weight of about 400-4,000 (A:B:C molar ratio is 1:1-6:0.2-2). The condensate is added to an aqueous slurry of solid fuel in an amt. of about 0.01-5wt%.
