PURPOSE:To execute exactly a detection so that a position indicating part is not influenced by a meterial quality of an object to be detected, by detecting a position of a point separated from a position to be detected, and obtaining the position to be detected by basing on said detection. CONSTITUTION:A cursor 2 has two position indicating parts 22, 23 and a switch 24, and aligns a cross mark 21 with a point to be detected. The position indicating part 22 and 23 are installed on a detecting plate 1, therefore, two coordinate position signals which are different from each other on the detecting plate are obtained by an electrostatic method or a magnetic method, etc. When the switch 24 is depressed by an operator, the position indicating parts 22, 23 send out the coordinate position signals to a controlling circuit. Coordinate position detecting circuits 4, 5 receive the coordinate position signals from the position indicating parts 22, 23 and specify the indicated position. In an operating circuit 6, the coordinate position indicated with the cross mark 21 is derived by an operation.
