MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a high S/N and low light transmittance by providing a magnetic recording layer consisting essentially of ferromagnetic material powder and binder and contg. a specific amt. of boron carbide on a base consisting of a nonmagnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording layer consisting essentially of ferromagnetic powder and binder and contg. boron carbide therein is provided on a base consisting of a nonmagnetic material. The boron carbide has a high effect of shielding light and has consequently a high effect of decreasing the light transmittance; further the boron carbide has a good effect of polishing for its extremely high hardness. As a result the amt. of the additive to be added as a polishing agent and light shielding agent is decreased and a good self-cleaning effect of a head is obtd. Sliding noise is thus decreased and the magnetic recording medium having low light transmittance is obtd. The amt. of the boron carbide to be added is made 0.1-10pts.wt.
