PURPOSE:To improve the working efficiency of the printing output of a documenting communication terminal, by providing two sets of printing devices having different functions and selecting one printing device out of the two in accordance with an output document. CONSTITUTION:A documenting communication terminal is constituted of an input device A which inputs various control information, etc., display device B, two printing devices C and D having different functions, local process controlling section F which controls word processing and editing operations, communication controlling section G, and communication memory H. In this case, the printing device C is constituted of, for example, a typewriter type printer and the other printing D is constituted of, for example, a thermal line printer. Moreover, a selecting means I which selects the printing device C and D in accordance with output documents is installed to the terminal and, when characters, codes, etc., which cannot be printed by the printing device D are not included in an output document from the local process controlling section F, the printing device D is selected for printing and, when such characters, codes, etc., are contained, the other printing device C is selected.
