IRON-LEAD AMORPHOUS COMPOUND MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain an iron-lead amorphous compound material composed of Fe3O4 and PbO at a specific ratio and having excellent magnetic property, by heating and melting a mixture of iron oxide and lead oxide in an inert atmosphere or in vacuum, and quenching the molten mixture at an extremely high rate of quenching. CONSTITUTION:A mixture composed of iron oxide and lead oxide at a specific ratio is put into a tube 7, and melted by heating in an inert atmosphere or in vacuum at a temperature higher than the melting point of said mixture by 50-200 deg.C with a dielectric heating coil 5. The molten mixture is ejected by the pressure of an inert gas through a nozzle 11 having a slit, circular or elliptical opening toward the surface of the quenching roll 13 rotating at a circumferential speed of 5-35m/sec in an inert atmosphere or in vacuum, and is quenched at an extremely high rate of quenching (i.e. 10<4>-10<6> deg.C/sec) by contacting with the surface of the roll 13. An iron-lead amorphous compound material having a composition of (Fe3O4)1-x.(PbO)x (0.25<=x<=0.75) can be prepared by this process.
