The dynamometer has a fixed frame in which a Hall effect generator measures the flux density at a location indicative of the flux in the gap between the rotor and the inductor rings. The gap flux density is influenced by the flux induced by the field and the opposing emf generated in the rings as the rotor rotates. The Hall voltage HV is related to and substituted for the flux density B in the formula Torque <IMAGE> where r and s are constants proportional to eddy resistance and inductance and f is the frequency in cycles per second. The Hall voltage and a speed pulse signal are fed into computer means to provide a direct readout for torque, horsepower and speed.
