PURPOSE:To obtain a data input/output apparatus which can be used even at the time of card reader trouble by lighting up a keyboard permission display even at the time of card reader trouble. CONSTITUTION:A keyboard permission display 8 indicates whether or not the contents of the card can be inputted from the keyboard by one LED. The operation of a data input/output apparatus which is constituted as mentioned above equals to the conventional operation when the card reader operates normally. When the card reader has trouble, the keyboard permission display 8 can be lit up by inputting the password number which can be registered in the apparatus only by the controller from a keyboard 3, and the same data with the card can be inputted from the keyboard 3. Even when the card reader operates normally, the data input/output apparatus can be used by lighting up the keyboard permission display even at the time of card-forgetting.
