PURPOSE:To measure the slide strength of a magnetic disc medium in a time shorter than a half of the time spent in a conventional method by shifting a position, where a pressure is applied to a slider, >=3/4 of the slider length to the rear. CONSTITUTION:The pressurizing position where a head spring pressure is applied to a slider 11 of a magnetic head is near the position of the center of gravity which is a little off a half of a slider length l of the slider 11 to the rear, and the slider 11 is floated above a magnetic disc medium 12 by the air current which is generated in the direction of an arrow when the magnetic disc medium 12 is rotated. If the pressurizing position of the slider 11 is shifted about 3/4 of the slider length l to the rear, the rear end of the slider 11 is not floated but is slided on the magnetic disc medium 12. The pressurizing position of the slider 11 is shifted >=3/4 of the slider length to the rear to measure the slide strength of the magnetic disc medium, thereby evaluating it in the time shorter than a half of the time spent in evaluation in the conventional pressurizing position.
