PURPOSE:To make recording efficient and to prevent dropout of picture data by performing automatic direction adjustment and variable power of picture data and processing the picture data so that a recording sheet and a picture to be stored in said sheet are matched record said data. CONSTITUTION:When prescribed data is stored in an accumlating device BFM through a communication controller CM1, a CPU reads the contents of a document header of the BFM and reads its picture size and direction. The CPU reads the size and direction of the recording sheet to which a printer PRT outputs. The picure size read and the record sheet size are compared, its variable power rate is set in a variable power device SZC, and the variable power- processed picture data is transferred to a page memory PGM. The directins are compared with each other to transfer them to a vertical/horizontal convertor VHC, and to alter the arrangement, then to transfer them to the PGM. Thereafter, the CPU sends data to the PRT to perform hard copy.
