The invention relates to a gasket, in particular a cylinder head gasket, with outer layers composed of flexible graphite, which can be clamped between sealing surfaces having openings. In order to avoid erosion of the graphite layers, those parts of the graphite layers which are intended to extend in an uncovered manner in the region of an opening of a sealing surface or to delimit the rim of an opening are pre-sealed relative to the sealing parts of the graphite layers.
