PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material having superior wear resistance and enabling the stable rotation of a micromotor under high load by adding specified elements to an Ag-Pd alloy for a sliding contact having a high Pd content. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of 50-80% Pd, 1-5% at least one among Zn, In, Sn and Pb, 0-0.1% at least one among Fe, Co and Ni, and the balance Ag is used as a sliding contact material for the high-speed rotation of a micromotor or the like. An intermetallic compound consisting of Ag or Pd and at least one among Zn, In, Sn and Pb is produced in the matrix to improve the mechanical characteristics and to inhibit the formation of brown powder by the catalytic action of Pd. Reduction in the grain size of the matrix is accelerated by at least one among Fe, Co and Ni, so the sliding contact material has superior wear resistance.
