REEL SHAFT MOTIVE POWER TRANSMITTING MECHANISM OF MAGNETIC RECORDING TAPE TRAVELING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of an accidental fault where a tape fixed end is broken when the tape drive is over by providing an idler means which can be engaged with a gear of a reel shaft and changing the position of an idler in response to a high or low speed of a motor. CONSTITUTION:An idler means 34 having gears 40 and 38 which can be engaged with gears 28 and 30 of a reel shaft 12 is provided at a place near the shaft 12. A slip member 42 is set between gears 38 and 40 and silips when it receives the revolving power larger than the prescribed value of a slip member 32 set between the shaft 12 and the means 34. Then gears 38 and 40 are engaged with gears 28 and 30 when a motor is revolving at a high speed; while the engagement between these gears is released in a low-speed revolution mode of the motor. This can prevent a fault where the motor revolving power is applied directly to a tape to break the fixed end of the tape when the tape drive is over.
