PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a herbicide in high yield, by reacting a perfluoronitrosalkane with an arenesulfonic acid. CONSTITUTION:A perfluoronitrosalkane of the formula Rf-NO (Rf is lower perfluoroalkyl) is reacted with an arenesulfonic acid of the formula ArSO2H (Ar is substituted or unsubstituted aryl) to give the aimed N-perfluoroalkyl-N-hydroxyarenesulfonamide of formula I in high reaction yield. THF, dimethyl ether, DMF, DMSO, etc. are preferred for a reaction solvent, and the reaction temperature is preferably -100-+70 deg.C.
