PURPOSE:To facilitate the handling of jamming of a body to be transferred in a heat-transfer type image forming apparatus by including a means for pressing the body being transferred on a platen and a means for making the press means contact with or separate from the platen. CONSTITUTION:In a heat transfer type image forming apparatus so designed to press a body to be transferred on a platen 10 with a thermal head 11 through a heat transfer material 12, a head contacting/separating mechanism 35 is provided to make a head holder 25 thereof 11 contact or separate from the platen 10. This contacting or separating operation is done through a rotary arm 37 and a connecting rod 36 with the action of a spring 38 and a solenoid 38a. A press roller 16 adapted to wrap the body being transferred on the platen 10 is arranged so as to contact with or separate from the platen 10 with a roller contacting/separating mechanism. With such an arrangement, jamming of the body being transferred can be handled easily when it is pinched between the platen and the thermal head or the press roller. |
