PURPOSE:To transmit a long-size original so that the divided areas are used as blank spaces by dividing said original to be transmitted at the blank part equivalent to the length of a fixed form original. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 3 for long-size original detects whether the original to be read is equal to a long-size original or not by comparing the integrated line number N of a line counter 5 with the reference value (x). Then a blank line counter is started when a long-size original is decided and counts all white lines which are continuous when N>=X is satisfied. The shift of the original is stopped when the number (n) of all continuous white lines exceeds the reference value (y). Then the rest information on the original of a fixed format are all decided as white ones. Then the long-size original is transmitted after it is divided at a blank part.
