PURPOSE:To improve the measuring precision of a converted size by performing the conversion to the size at normal temp. based on the measuring temp. at the same position as that for measuring the size. CONSTITUTION:The energy radiated from a hot steel rod 1 as a material to be measured is focused as the image on a photoelectric converting element string 3 through an optical system 4 of a detector 2, and the output signal is sent to a signal processing part 5. The part 5 calculates the diameter dH of the rod 1 from a bit number of a prescribed threshold value or more. On the other hand, the part 5 calculates the surface temp. of the rod 1 from the intensity of the output signal of the string 3, and converts the dH to the value at normal temp. based on the temp. Consequently, the measuring precision of the converted size is improved. |
