PURPOSE:A resin composition which can give a curing product excellent in moldability, heat resistance, adhesiveness, etc., prepared by mixing a polycyanate ester with a composition formed by prereacting a polymaleimide with a 6- substituted guanamine. CONSTITUTION:The purpose curable resin composition is obtained by mixing a composition formed by prereacting, by heating, (A) a polymaleimide having at least two N-maleimido groups in the molecule with a 6-substituted guanamine at a weight ratio of 99.9:0.1-70:30 with (B) a polycyanate ester containing at least two cyanato groups in the molecule or a prepolymer thereof at a weight ratio of A to B of 90:10-1:99 and, if necessary, reacting the mixture by heating. Examples of the polymaleimides which can be suitably used include compounds of the formula (wherein R1 is an at least bivalent aromatic or alicyclic organic group, X<1> and X<2> are each H, a halogen, or an alkyl, and n is 2-5).
