PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retardant flexible foam rubber having soft elasticity and excellent durability, by adding and mixing an organic isocyanate and a crosslinking agent, etc. to a chloroprene rubber latex, frothing the mixture by mechanical means, and heating the product to effect the crosslinking and drying. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100pts.(wt.) of a chloroprene rubber latex is compounded with (B) 5-20pts. of an organic isocyanate (preferably 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate), (C) 1-15pts. of a crosslinking agent such as sulfur, zinc oxide, etc., and if necessary (D) a coagulant such as sodium silicofluoride, a cure accelerator, an antioxidant, a filler such as aluminum hydroxide, etc., and the obtained mixture is supplied to the foaming machine 3, in which the mixture is foamed with air blasted thereto. The foamed raw material 10 is extruded through the nozzle 4 to the surface of the endless belt 1 at the front end, smoothened with the doctor knife 5 to a uniform thickness, introduced into the oven 2 maintained at 80-150 deg.C to effect the crosslinking and drying of the foam, and the obtained foam rubber 11 is wound in the form of a roll 6.
