PURPOSE:To attain accurate detection of a framing region by allowing a sensor different in spectral sensitivity to detect the coloring of a frame of an original framed in a different color at the front end and the rear end in the scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:The coloring framing 12 is formed by applying different colors X, Y from the front end and the rear end of the scanning of the original. The framing region of the original is detected by using an output obtained by a photoelectric sensor different in spectral sensitivity from a framing detection signal through the processing of the signal as a result of scanning of the region shown in a scanning line G. Thus, the framing region is detected accurately even if the framing is made complicated or multiplicated.
