PURPOSE:To produce easily a Cu-Cr sintered material by putting the powder or porous body of Cr or W alloy into a vessel made of Cu or Cu alloy to a prescribed size and heating the vessel to the temp. above the m.p. thereof. CONSTITUTION:Powder 11 of Cr is packed into a vessel 13 made of Cu or Cu alloy to a prescribed size. Cu 12 for the defficient component is otherwise placed on the Cr powder 11 and is heated to the m.p. 1,083 deg.C of Cu or above if necessary. The Cr is sintered to each other to form the porous body of Cr before Cu melts. The molten Cu intrudes into the pores formed therein, by which the infiltrated body of Cu-Cr, i.e., the sintered body thereof is obtd. Even if the Cr melted into the Cu in the molten state is crystallized in the stage of solidifying, the Cr does not easily react with the Cu and therefore the infiltrated Cu-Cr body is easily removed from the vessel. There is thus no need for breaking the vessel as with the conventional graphite crucible.
