PURPOSE:To apply a sawtooth wave signal having a prescribed frequency as well as the peak-to-peak value similar to the conventional one to a horizontal deflecting coil without doubling the value of EB, by using a conventional general-purpose horizontal deflecting coil. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal oscillation circuit 2 consists of an oscillation part which outputs a pulse signal having an oscillation frequency of 15.75kHz and a capacitor 5 which is connected to the part 3 via the 1st changeover switch 4 and serves as a converting element to 31.5kHz. Thus the oscillation frequency of the pulse output is changed to 31.5kHz from 15.75kHz when the switch 4 is turned on. The reactance of a horizontal deflecting coil 14 is set at I/4Ly=0.375mH when viewed from the side of a transistor 19. Then the actuation equal to that obtained with 31.5kHz is secured as shown in a table I by selecting the peak-topeak value of an ic at 9A. Thus a current Iy which flows actually to the coil 14 is set at iz=I/2ic and can be suppressed with 4.5A like to conventional 15.75kHz. Therefore the heat higher than the conventional level is never produced to the coil 14.
