PURPOSE:To shorten a retrieving time by handling retrieving information and information to be retrieved as numeral data, arraying the information to be retrieved in the order of numerals and using a table indicating approximate positions of the information to be retrieved. CONSTITUTION:The items of retrieving information 11 consist of names, dates, disease names, and portions and these data are made to correspond to numerals. A series of these items are arrayed as numeral data in the ascending order and stored in a retrieved information block 13 and addresses 14 indicate the storing places of these data. At a retrieving time, ''25'' is obtained from the data 01 of a name in the leading item of the retrieving information while referring the table 12. Since the table 12 indicates an address starting the retrieved information having the same name, the address ''25'' or after in the retrieved information block 13 may be retrieved, so that the retrieving time is shortened.
