PURPOSE:To attain high mass productivity of magnetic heads having high reliability by setting a nonmagnetic film of high hardness to tape counter surface after tilting the forming surfaces of a magnetic gap and a thin metallic film at a prescribed angle respectively and therefore securing the stable thin metallic film and high accuracy of the track width. CONSTITUTION:A ferromagnetic thin metallic film 12 is formed at a place near a magnetic gap (g) between core half bodies 11a and 11b, and a nonmagnetic film 13 of high hardness is formed on the film 12. The oxide glasses 14 and 15 are fused and filled into both sides of the gap (g) of a tape counter surface 11' to prescribe the track width. The forming surfaces of both the film 12 and the gap (g) are tilted at a prescribed angle respectively on the surface 11'. Thus the cracks of the film 12 are prevented since the film 13 is formed between the film 12 and the glass 15. This improves both reliability and yield of a magnetic head. In addition, the film 12 formed near the gap (g) contributes to reduction of the magnetic resistance and improvement of both sensitivity and reliability for the magnetic head. |
