PURPOSE:To see a stereoscopic image by using two layers of liquid-crystal display panels which have liquid crystal oriented in mutually different directions for the right and left eyes respectively, and observing the image through polarizing plates for the right and left eyes. CONSTITUTION:Guest-host type liquid-crystal layers 4 and 5 are provided among transparent electrodes 1, 2, and 3 which have electrodes. The reverse surface of the transparent substrate 1 and the top surface of the transparent substrate 2 are rubbed 6 and 7 in the same direction, and the reverse surface of the transparent substrate 2 and the top surface of the transparent substrate 3 are rubbed 8 and 9 in a direction different from the direction of the rubbing treatments 6 and 7. Polarizing devices 10 and 11; a polarizing direction 12 is made coincident with the rubbing directions 6 and 7, and a polarizing direction 13 is made coincident with the rubbing directions 8 and 9. Consequently, a pattern is observed with the right and left eyes to obtain a stereoscopic sensation. |
