PURPOSE:To prepare the titled fin material exhibiting sufficient sacrificial anode effect by treating an ingot of an aluminium alloy having a specified compsn. by soaking, hot rolling, cold rolling, process annealing, and final cold rolling in series. CONSTITUTION:An aluminium alloy ingot contg. 0.8-1.2wt% Zn, 0.005-0.02wt% Li, 0.008-0.1wt% Ca, 0.7-1.5wt% Mn, 0.2-0.7wt% Fe, and <=4.0wt% Si, or contg. further <=0.20wt% Cu, and the residual portion consisting substantially of Al, is soaked at 400-600 deg.C for 1-24hr. Then the ingot is hot rolled at 400- 550 deg.C to roll it to 1.5-5mm. thickness. The product is then cold rolled, and further process annealed at 250-300 deg.C, and then finally cold rolled to 0.04-0.3mm. thickness. Evaporation of Zn contained in the Al alloy is almost completely prevented in the stage of vacuum brazing of the alloy for prepg. a fin material. Therefore, the alloy exhibits sufficient sacrificial anode effect when it is used in a heat exchanger.
