PURPOSE:To make light cutting including trial cutting or the like performable with a measuring instrument itself as well as to aim at promoting higher efficiency, by installing a machining device with a driving motor in a measuring head so as to cause a cutting tool to be positioned on the same axis as a stylus shaft of the measuring instrument at a time when it is drawn in. CONSTITUTION:When tracing over the whole surface of a model is over, the model form is stored in a memory 32 through data of X-, Y- and Z-axes whereby a stylus 18 is removed, then a lifting motor is rotated, and a tracer head is housed inside a Z-axis quill 12. And, a tracer saddle 8 is moved to a turnout position, attaching a cutting tool fifly to a lower end of the Z-axis quill 12 as well as attaching a working head with a motor, and styrene foam to be cut is secured onto a table 2. Next, after rotating the motor, on the basis of memory data of the memory 32 belonging to a numerical control system 31, servomotors of X-, Y- and Z-axes 3, 9 and 13 are driven by a command to be outputted out of the NC system on the condition set at an editor 33, thus cutting by 3-axis control takes place. On the basis of measuring data like this, trial cutting is made performable on the very spot.
