PURPOSE:To improve the wow and flutter of sound signals and, at the same time, to expand or stabilize the retreating extent of a tracking control loop, by providing a low-pass filter which smooths tracking control signals and a device which switches the cut-off frequency of the filter. CONSTITUTION:Video signals and pilot signals from rotary heads 1 and 2 are inputted in a control signal forming circuit 3 through a reproducing amplifier circuit 18 and low-pass filter 19 and tracking control signals T are supplied to a switchable low-pass filter 24. On the other hand, the rotation detecting signal of a capstan 6 from a frequency converter 12 is inputted in a speed detecting circuit 23 in addition to a frequency discriminating circuit 21 and the cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter 24 is switched by supplying an ''L'' or ''H'' signal to the filter 24 in accordance with the revolving speed of the capstan whether or not it is within a prescribed range. Smoothed tracking control signals are supplied to a capstan motor 11 through an adder circuit 22 and motor driving circuit 20 and improvement of the wow and flutter of sound signals and expansion of the restoring extent of a tracking control loop are contrived.
