PURPOSE:To prepare the titled particulate material which is lightweight, and gives a molded article having woody properties by a molding process similar to that for PS resin, by adding wood flour to a solution of a PS resin in a solvent and evaporating the solvent therefrom. CONSTITUTION:30-100pts.wt. wood flour is added to 100pts.wt. resin solution, obtained by dissolving 20-50pts.wt. PS resin in 100pts.wt. low-boiling organic solvent (e.g. methylene chloride). After this mixture is kneaded, the solvent is evaporated to obtain the particulate material consisting of wood flour covered with a PS resin layer all around. USE:A building board, a cork substitute (e.g. a stopper), etc.
