PURPOSE:To attain the replacement of styluses and cartridges after opening a dust cover without turning off a power supply switch and also to reset automatically a tone arm to its rest position after replacement of the styluses and cartridges and closing the dust cover, by providing a switch to the inner side of the dust cover at a place opposite to the main body of a record player. CONSTITUTION:When a dust cover 3 is opened while a tone arm 1 is kept at a position excepting for its rest position 2, a lever 7 is turned round a fulcrum 8 by the force of a spring 9 to turn on a switch 5. Then a signal is trasmitted to a tone arm lift circuit 11 from the switch 5. The arm 1 is stopped as it is if it is already set at an upper position and then moved up and stopped if it is set at a lower position. When the cover 3 is closed, an L-shaped part of the lever 7 is pushed by the main body of a record player. Thus the lever 7 is turned round the fulcrum 8 against the force of the spring 9. This turns off the switch 5. Then a signal is transmitted to a tone arm drive circuit 12 from the switch 5. Thus the arm 1 is shifted to the position 2 and stopped there. The arm 1 is not moved if it is already set at the position 2.
