PURPOSE:To enable removal of residual oil in a bilge well, by a method wherein an oil-absorbing member is charged in the bilge well located in an oil tank, the residual oil in the bildge well is absorbed by the oil-absorbing member, and the oil-absorbing member is recovered. CONSTITUTION:An oil-absorbing member 12 is charged in a pipe 11, and the oil- absorbing member 12 is dropped down to a lower end 11b of the pipe 11. The oil-absorbing member 12, dropped down to the lower end 11b of the pipe, absorbs residual oil in a bilge well 3, the member is swelled resulting from absorption of the residual oil, and is forced into slightly-firm adhesion to the inside of the pipe 11. A hose 19 is engaged with an upper end 11a of the pipe 11, and a vacuum pump 16 of a vacuum recovery device 13 is driven. In which case, the upper part of the pipe 11 is forced into a low-pressure state, the oil-absorbing member 12, absorbing the residual oil, is sucked up by means of the negative pressure, and is recovered in an oil-absorbing member recovery chamber 15. Repetition of the aboves results in removal of the residual oil in the bilge well 3.
