NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R<1> is H, alkyl, (substituted) phenyl, naphthyl, allyl or benzyl; R<2> is alkyl, allyl or benzyl or two R<2>s together link to form alkylene; X is H, alkyl alkoxyl or halogen]. USE:An electrophotographic photosensitive material having high sensitivity and durability. PREPARATION:For example, N-ethylaniline is mixed with 1,2-dibromoethane and sodium carbonate, and the resultant mixture is heated to give N,N'-diphenyl- N,N'-diethylethylenediamine expressed by formula II, which is then reacted with phosphorus oxychloride in dimethylformamide (DMF). The resultant reaction mixture is further added to ice water to obtain deposited crystals by filtration and afford a bisaldehyde expressed by formula III. The resultant bisaldehyde expressed by formula III is then reacted with phenyl hydrazine hydrochloride to give a bishydrazone, which is then reacted with an alkylating agent, e.g., diethyl sulfate, to give the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
