PURPOSE:In the polymerization of vinyl monomers in an aqueous medium by no use of an emulsifier or dispersant, specific coating films are formed on the surfaces of the inner walls of the polymerizer or the like to prevent polymer scales from sticking to the walls. CONSTITUTION:In the polymerization of vinyl monomers such as vinyl chloride, methyl acrylate, styrene or a mixture of vinyl monomers by initiating with radicals, the inner walls of the polymerizer, agitation parts are coated with dyes such as C.I. direct yellow-26, C.I. acid yellow-7, C.I. sulfur-orange 1 or a mixture thereof with a silicate such as colloidal silica, ortho-silicic acid, preferably a mixture consisting of 1pt. of dye and 0.01-10pts. of silicate to prevent polymer scales from sticking to the polymerizer.
