PURPOSE:To aim at prevention against rolling and pitching, by erecting a service tower on the hull having plural ballast tanks capable of water injection and drainage, slinging a weight downward from the hull, while making an interval between the hull and the weight adjustable at will via a sling rope, and submerging the hull into the water. CONSTITUTION:A service tower 8 is erected on a ship 1 provided with plural ballast tanks capable of water injection and drainage. Weights 4 are slung downward from the ship 1 and its interval is made adjustable via sheaves 5 and winches 6. After each anchor wire 10 is sunk down at the specified sea area and locked thereat, these weights 4 are seated on the seabed B. Next, water is injected into each ballast tank 2 of the ship 1, while sling ropes 7 are hoisted up with these winches 6, submerging the ship 1 into the water, and the service tower 8 is erected upright on the surface of the sea. Since the ship 1 is submerged, rolling or pitching of the ship due to waves is well reducible whereby attitude maintenance in the service tower is accurately performed, thus operations are efficiently performable.
