PURPOSE:To prevent the oxidation of cyclohexene at high temperatures, e.g. in distillation or separation, etc. by adding a nitro group-substituted aromatic compound as an oxidation inhibitor to a mixture containing the cyclohexene. CONSTITUTION:A nitro group-substituted aromatic compound expressed by formula I (X is alkyl, alkoxyl, phenyl, OH, aldehyde, amide or halogen; n and m are 1-3; l is 1-6) or formula II, preferably together with a coexisting extraction solvent at a higher temperature than room temperature is added to a mixture containing cyclohexane to prevent the oxidation of the cyclohexene useful as an intermediate raw material for cyclohexanol or adipic acid, etc. at high temperatures. EFFECT:Neither equipment for preventing contamination of O2 therein nor complicated operation is required, and there is no problem of iron rust accelerating the oxidative reaction. Expensive stainless steel, etc. is not required for the equipment material, and continuous operation can be carried out even for a long time.
