NEW MATERIAL:2-Phenyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazole derivatives expressed by formula I (R represents >=3C haloalkenyl group). EXAMPLE:3-Chloro-2-[ 4-chloro-2-fluoro-5- ( 3-chloro-2-butenyloxy ) phenyl]-4,5,6,7- tetrahydro-2H-indazole. USE:Useful as a herbicide, having herbicidal effect on broad-leaved weeds such as chenopodium album L. etc. and gramineous weeds such as barnyard grass, etc. causing much trouble in foliar treatment or soil treatment in upland field without phytotoxicity to main crops such as maize, wheat, soybean, etc. and herbicidal effect on weeds such as echinochloa crus-galli P. Beauv. var. oryziola Ohwi, Lindernia procumbens Philox., Scirpus junoides, etc. causing much trouble in treatment under flooded conditions in paddy fields without phytotoxicity to rice plants. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II and a compound expressed by formula III (X represents Cl, etc.) are reacted to obtain the compound expressed by formula I.
