PURPOSE:To improve the operability and to eliminate the fatigue of eyes by using a material having an extremely small transmissivity of a visible light area compared with that of an infrared beam area to produce a light transmissive substrate for mouse pad. CONSTITUTION:A mouse pad 5 contains a transparent substrate 6 and line patterns 7X and 7Y of thin parallel lines formed on both sides of the substrate 6. The substrate 6 is made of acrylic resin; while patterns 7X and 7Y are formed with print of a light reflecting material such as aluminum, etc. A mouse 1 consists mainly of a line reader 4 attached to a bottom plate 3 that closed an opening of a housing 2 and a circuit substrate which processes the electric signals sent from the reader 4 together with tow line readers 8X and 8Y consisting of light source light emitting diodes 9X and 9Y and photodetecting elements 10X and 10Y respectively. Then the substrate 6 uses an acrylic resin plate having a kind of filter effect that cuts the beams having wavelengths of a visible light area and transmits the near infrared beams having wavelengths of diodes 9X and 9Y.
