PURPOSE:To improve a bending resistant characteristic by providing a quartz fiber strand, a quartz pipe which has incorporated densely its strand, and a covering layer covered on the outside periphery of the quartz pipe, on the titled image guide. CONSTITUTION:As for an image guide of a quartz compound, a quartz fiber strand 1 is formed by covering the outside with quartz containing a dopant or a pure quartz, and this strand 1 is arranged by many pieces in a quartz pipe 2 so as to become a dense structure. Thereafter, they are welded and formed as one body by drawing them in a lump, and a covering layer 3 is formed by an ultraviolet hardening resin whose refractive index is larger than that of the quartz pipe 2, and also whose tensile elastic modulus is >=80kg/cm<2>.
