Process for the flash pyrolysis of solid particles containing carbon, using a cyclone reactor. The process is characterised in that the divided solid is introduced into the reactor, heated to a temperature of between 500 and 1100 DEG C by the pyrolysis gas from the reaction, a part of which is recycled to the reactor entry. The process of the invention is especially usable for the flash pyrolysis of wood particles.
