The device for adjusting the cushion of the seat by means of a reversible worm and a rack is characterised in that the upper face 1b of slide 1 carries a part 2 holding a pin 16 about which an L-shaped pivoting part 15 may rotate whose edge 15d carries a curved rack 115-116 whereas the edge 15a carries a pin 17 sliding in a curved window 18 delimiting a top neutral position and a bottom neutral position of a support fixed at one of the corners of the seat, the rack 115-116 interacting with a worm 8 mounted on a support held on the slide 1, this worm driven by the rack being subjected to the action of a manual or motorised locking member. <IMAGE>
