PURPOSE:To manufacture a two-ply DTR panchromatic sensitive material capable of well satisfying the photographic characteristics of a sensitive material for lith and giving simply a direct positive image at a low cost by allowing specified blue, green and red sensitizing dyes to be unitedly adsorbed on silver halide particles in a silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:Three kinds of sensitizing dyes represented by formulae I -III are allowed to be unitedly adsorbed on silver halide particles in a silver halide emulsion having a silver chloride-base silver halide composition contg. <=30mol% Br and <=6mol% I. The peak of the particle size distribution of the emulsion is 0.20-0.50mum. The sensitizing dyes are dissolved in an org. solvent miscible with water such as methanol or ethanol, and they are added to the silver halide emulsion after secondary aging by 1X10<-5>-1X10<-2>mol each per 1mol silver halide. A DTR panchromatic sensitive material using the resulting emulsion has high sensitivity, high contrast and aging stability. |
